Want to partake in the Holiday tradition of drinking egg nog, but have quit eating animal products? We have a way for you to have your nog and drink it too!
Our Holiday Nog base is oatmilk, with some other lovely holiday flavors thrown in to remind you of the nog of your past. Best of all, it is super simple and takes just a few minutes to prepare!
And at 100 calories per cup and no cholesterol, (compared to over 300 calories and nearly 250 mg cholesterol in a traditional egg nog) you can feel good while getting your nog on!
Cheers to that!
Makes 8 cups of Holiday Nog
7c water
2c oats
6 pitted dates soaked in 1c boiling water
1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
1 vanilla bean (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp xanthan gum (optional) Adds a thick creamy texture to nog.
If you are using a vanilla bean instead of extract, open the pod and scrape out all the vanilla seeds into your blender. The vanilla bean makes this oh so decadent!
Blend all ingredients on high speed in a blender for no more than 20 seconds. Oat milk gets very slimy when blended too long. So just don’t (trust me, it’s gross when this happens).
Then pour into a nut milk bag, and squeeze out all the yummy goodness, pour into a pitcher and chill in fridge. Use within 2-3 days.
Enjoy!
