six things that happen on a plant-based diet

Reduce Inflammation

A plant-based diet is low in saturated fat + endotoxins. It is brimming with anti-inflammatory fiber (which is protective against CRP, a marker of acute inflammation).

Lower your Blood Cholesterol

A plant-based diet can reduce your blood cholesterol level by up to 35%. These foods have very little saturated fat, and NO cholesterol.

Regulate your Blood Sugar

Switching to a plant-based diet can dramatically regulate your blood sugar levels, sometimes in as few as 24 hours. Plant-based foods are low in fat, which is the main contributor to diabetes-- not carbs! The high fiber levels slow digestion and prevent blood sugar spikes and drops.

Increased regularity

The fiber in a plant-based diet helps to move foods through the GI tract more quickly, which is healthier for your GI tract. This means less bloating, constipation and greater immune function. Much of your immune system is found in the GI tract.

It's less expensive

Eating a plant-based diet is inexpensive when avoiding processed foods. Vegetables and fruit (fresh or frozen), legumes and whole grains are some of the least expensive foods to put in your shopping cart. And they don't cause expensive chronic health conditions later on, either.

You might lose weight

You may lose weight on a plant-based diet, even though you will be eating a larger volume of food. Plant-based foods are less calorie-dense, which allows you to eat more of them. An eating pattern that doesn't make you feel hungry all the time and you may still lose weight? Win-win!
